Technique Visualization

Technique visualization transfers new techniques into muscle memory, even when you aren't on the mats.

Technique visualization involves replaying new moves over and over again in your mind, until you no longer have difficulty recalling the technique.  This mental drilling makes you familiar with the specifics of a new move, to the point where you can recall the move quickly and fluidly without thinking.  This immediate recall is required to effectively use a move while sparring.

Although not as effective as actual drilling or training, technique visualization can be a helpful tool to increase your fluency with a technique between training sessions.

Technique visualization is best done with the eyes closed and in an environment free of distractions.
