Jiu-Jitsu for Hobbits, feat. Josh "Kintanon" Wentworth

Welcome to Jiu-Jitsu for Hobbits, a new BJJ Mental Models Premium audio course!  In this series of conversations, we're joined by Josh "Kintanon" Wentworth!  Josh is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt, the head instructor at Apex MMA in Georgia, and a longtime presence on forums like Bullshido and Reddit.

Josh is also a smaller guy, normally competing at light featherweight while training with partners much larger than him.  He's small, diminutive, and unathletic...some might call him a Hobbit.

In this audio course, Josh teaches "Jiu-Jitsu for Hobbits," or how to survive and succeed at Jiu-Jitsu when you're not just small and weak, but also unathletic and injury-averse.  This is a course for small "regular" people, to give them tools to hold their own against much larger and more athletic training partners and opponents.

Course contents:

Ep. 1: Escaping From Anywhere
In the first episode of Jiu-Jitsu for Hobbits, Josh "Kintanon" Wentworth shares his playbook for staying safe and escaping from any position, no matter how big your strength and athletic disadvantage.

Ep. 2: Standup for Hobbits
In the second episode of Jiu-Jitsu for Hobbits, Josh explains his strategies for standup against larger, more athletic opponents.  This episode contains great insights into how the standup game changes when you're giving up a significant size advantage.

Ep. 3: Open Guard for Hobbits
In the third episode of Jiu-Jitsu for Hobbits, Josh explains how smaller and less athletic grapplers can find success with open guard. We cover strategies for playing open guard, both when on top and when on bottom.

Ep. 4: Closed Guard for Hobbits
In the fourth episode of Jiu-Jitsu for Hobbits, Josh explains closed guard tactics for smaller grapplers. Closed guard is a difficult position to play when you're giving up a significant size or strength advantage. Ep. 5: Top Control for Hobbits
In the fifth episode of Jiu-Jitsu for Hobbits, Josh explains top position strategies and tactics for smaller grapplers. He covers common problems that occur against bigger training partners, such as how to hold top position against an explosive opponent who's trying to throw you off.

Ep. 6: Back Control for Hobbits
In this sixth episode of Jiu-Jitsu for Hobbits, our unexpected journey concludes with a deep discussion of maintaining and attacking from back control.
