Keep it Playful

Jiu-Jitsu needs to be fun for both you and your training partner.

The best way to stay motivated over the long term, and to cultivate a mindset that primes you for learning and relationship building, is to ensure you're always having fun while training.

Additionally, you are responsible for providing your partner with a positive training experience. People are only going to continue training over the long term if they're having fun. Being part of a quality team is an important part of quality training, so focusing on team building is just as beneficial to you as to other team members.

Keeping it playful does not mean you have to roll light. You can roll with intensity if that is what's best for both yourself and your partner. However, if your partner isn't having fun, adjust your style to ensure that both you and your partner are having a positive experience.
